Gawking Children

I was in Chinatown in Melbourne the other night having a feed at the Dragon Boat when I glanced out the glass window to the other side of the street. In the glow of a sign, I could see children gawking at the passing Christmas crowds in the street below. I knew if I went outside it would be all over – and the moment would have been lost. So, over my steamed dim sims, spring rolls and chilli sauce, I couldn’t get my camera whirring quick enough. It’s not a sharp picture, and the light is bad, but what the heck, I got it. Statue Man

Could this be the first ever statue with blue eyes? Unfortunately not. This is the wonderful and talented Statue Man of Melbourne City. And there wasn’t a pigeon within cooee. This clever fellow stands motionless on a pedestal until some kind soul drop a few dollars into the hat at his feet, or to change positions. He dipped his hat at me just after I popped a few gold coloured coins into the kitty. (Melbourne, Victoria, Australia).dsc_0562-1
