I discovered this image I snapped of David May and daughter Angela May at home in the well equipped kitchen at Point Lookout on Straddie, toiling over a hot gas stove, cooking up a veritable storm. In all the times I have visited there, I never ever had a bad feed. Yep, top tucker. The best. And David makes the best home brew in Australia. Hooray. Stradbroke Island, Queensland, Australia.
This is the delicate and beautiful Haniel Medinet who owns FLUTTERBIES COTTAGE CAFE in Tyalgum, New South Wales, Australia. Flutterbies is well established in the cute country town of about 300 people – 600 in surrounding districts. But during holiday time there is always an influx of visitors wanting to buy crafts and have a good cup of tea or coffee. On the day I was there I had coffee, fresh baked scones, jam and cream. Haniel has a wonderful menu. Tyalgum is a peaceful town with kind and gentle people. flatteries.com.au
This is my Vegemite Art masterpiece in honour of Australia’s much loved spread – Vegemite, which turns 90 year-old this month. Vegemite is used in cooking, it’s spread in toast in the morning and washed down with a cup of tea or coffee. Some people like Vegemite thickly spread, some just like a smidgeon. Whatever way it is, Vegemite puts a rose on every cheek. My painting is up for sale.
