There are thousands and thousands of shags on beaches in Australia, and they hunt fish in packs. And shagged in Australia means you are tired or worn out. Also, the word shag is a term that some Aussies use for having sex – such as “having a shag”. I can’t answer that part without goggling it.
Thanks for the explanation. We use the term shag regarding sex as well. Or we used to. I haven’t heard it in a long time.
That’s fine, Laura, but there is still a lot of shagging going on out there. Wonder how do the shags feel about the use their name for a f..k.
Hopefully they are not bilingual. lol
They’d have a quack up if they did.
hahaha
hmmm..well yes…super photo of these beautiful birds (in the right light) doing their thing…being a migrant , incomer and foreigner I cannot comment on the other annotations of the word ‘shag’.
I’ve never heard of those birds.

A shag (the bird variety) is also called a cormorant. Maybe that’s what Laura would know it as?
