I met Dany Bodard Weus more than 30 years ago when we worked together as newspaper photographers. I have seen him around the ridges, but really renewed our friendship at his art exhibition called “Beyond” at the Boonah Art Gallery last weekend. Reason for the hat and gun is that Dany is a descendent of Captain Corsairs of Dunkirk. He holds a 400 year old flintlock pistol. Dany spends his time between France and Australia. His works have twice been selected for hanging as part of the prestigious Wynne Prize for landscapes. Recently in France, he was twice selected by the French National Society of Fine Arts to exhibit at the annual Salon at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris. Also, his art works were selected for inclusion in the “Exposition de I’Art Actuel France-Japan at the National Art Centre, Tokyo, Japan. Dany is a beautiful man, happy and full of life and great stories. His body of work is extraordinary. Dany’s exhibition runs until the end of June. Get along to wonderful Boonah (where he resides) and see his outstanding art work. (I also posted this picture and story on on ‘Bastards I Have Met’ Facebook page). Boonah is a beautiful country town in Queensland, Australia.
